When I told them that the only way to book airline tickets with Air Miles was to exchange them for KLM holidays vouchers, they were in a bad mood. Air Miles can now be exchanged for Flying Blue Miles. You get two Air Miles for the price of one Flying Blue mile. You do the math, I say with a wink.
What are the differences between Air Miles and Flying Blue points?
Air Miles are points that are included in the loyalty program of Albert Heijn and Shell. Flying Blue points can be earned by flying with Air France and KLM, these two airlines have a loyalty program called Flying Blue. Exchanging Air Miles for Flying Blue Miles It has been possible to exchange Air Miles for Flying Blue Miles for a number of weeks. For every 50 Air Miles you redeem, you will receive 25 Flying Blue Miles back. For every 2 Air Miles, you get 1 Flying Blue Miles. To convert your Air Miles to Flying Blue points, you have to go through a number of steps. First, we need to link your Flying Blue account to your Air Miles account. To do this, log in to your Flying Blue account. Then click on “Manage my Miles” on the menu at the top of your profile page.

Once your account is linked, you can transfer points from Air Miles to Flying Blue and vice versa. When the accounts have been linked, you will now see in the Air Miles banner “Convert” instead of “Link and Convert”. On the button “Convert” you click. A pop-up will appear. To transfer points from Air Miles to Flying Blue, select “Convert Air Miles to Flying Blue Miles”.
In the last step, you can indicate how many points you want to transfer. As described, Air Miles convert to Flying Blue points at a 50% rate. So for every two Air Miles, one Flying Blue Miles return. When you click the “Convert now” button, the points will be transferred from the Air Miles account to the Flying Blue account.

Conclusion:
It is great that there is now an option to convert Air Miles into Flying Blue Miles. It is of course nice to be able to add extra Flying Blue Miles to your account, but the points also
count towards the activity of your Flying Blue account. If you transfer points from your Air Miles, you prevent your Flying Blue Miles from expiring (provided you don’t spend 24 months, which seems strong to me.) The other way, so it is less sensible to convert Flying Blue Miles into Air Miles, because the Flying Blue Miles are a lot more valuable.
